Overview

The SAP BTP connector integrates AlertEnterprise Guardian with SAP Business Technology Platform — SAP's integration mediation layer (Cloud Integration / formerly SAP Cloud Platform Integration). BTP fronts multiple SAP HR / HCM-adjacent products via IFlows (Integration Flows) and exposes them to AE Guardian behind a unified REST API surface.

Categorization note: BTP itself is an integration platform, not an HR system. It's classified kind: hr here because in AE deployments its primary purpose is mediating HR data from SAP SuccessFactors, SAP SuccessFactors Learning (LMS), and SAP Fieldglass (sap-fieldglass). Customers running mixed SAP stacks use BTP as the integration tier to normalize all three feeds into Guardian.

Architecture: AE → ACF → SAP BTP Connector → Cloud Integration APIs → IFlows → SuccessFactors / SuccessFactors Learning / SAP Fieldglass. The connector authenticates to BTP and the IFlows handle the per-source integration logic downstream.

This is a 70-page connector guide — among the largest in the AE catalog — reflecting BTP's role as a complex multi-source mediation layer with multiple auth modes (OAuth 2.0 client credentials, SAML, API key, Basic auth) selectable per IFlow.

Architecture

Composed from this connector's actors + edges. Trust zones are color-coded; trust crossings render as thicker lines.

Authentication

4 methods supported

OAuth 2.0 client credentials (typical)
oauth2-client-credentials

OAuth 2.0 client credentials grant is the most common authentication mode. Token URL pattern {tenant}.fgvms.com/api/oauth2/v2.0/token.

Credential storage
Encrypted in AE connector configuration.
SAML (alternative)
saml

SAML authentication supported for SuccessFactors-backed IFlows.

API key (alternative)
api-key

API key auth supported for some IFlow configurations.

Basic auth (alternative)
basic

Basic auth fallback for legacy configurations.

Prerequisites

Everything that must be in place for this connector to work, with the owner who's responsible.

SAP BTP / Cloud Integration tenant with IFlows configured

customer

An operational SAP BTP tenant with Cloud Integration enabled and IFlows configured for the source systems of interest (SuccessFactors, SuccessFactors Learning, Fieldglass).

BTP service-binding credentials for AE

customer

Tenant admin provisions client credentials for the AE integration.

Known limitations

Documented constraints to set customer expectations before deployment.

Categorized as HR but actually an integration platform

informational

BTP itself is an integration mediation platform (closer in spirit to a kind: integration-platform connector). Classified kind: hr only because its dominant AE use case is HR data mediation.
